LOADED BEACH

Gallery 12
“After the storm, threads, knick-knacks and gold got washed up on the shore. Ancient treasures and modern junk. Erased and nearly unrecognizable, buried into the sand or piled up. What a situation. Sorting is going well, but the beach will never be the same.”
Helga Páley Friðþjófsdóttir (born 1987) finished her BA degree from Iceland University of the Arts 2011 and works as a visual artist in Reykjavík. After graduation she has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions both in Iceland and abroad. Her work can be found in private and public collections around Europe.
The drawing has been a favorite of Friðþjófsdóttir for a long while, playing a big role in her art creation. Through the drawing she fumbles forward, armed with curiosity she maps her mind. She gives it time to ferment until things become clearer and stories are created, that move through various routes onto the canvas.
