She moved to Carrara, Italy 1990 and worked on her art creations at the Studio Niccoli for the next four years.  Baldursdóttir ran a studio in Akureyri 1995-2001 and worked on various sculptures as well as exhibitions in Iceland and abroad.

She was the town artist of Akureyri 1999 and received a stipend from the Artist‘s Salary Fund. Baldursdóttir has also worked for some public institutions such as The President of Iceland Export Awards and the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

“Nature has always been important for me and my art creations. It gives me safety and a foothold in all its gentleness and beauty but is also unpredictable and ruthless. Lots of memories will surface when touching the rock, whether it be granite from Denmark or Italian marble. The same curiosity and wish for cooperation with the rock is always there before I start working. The dialogue needs to be silent before the hammering begins.

The rock‘s heavy undertone stretches toward the delicate and small in nature, the moss and mayweed that grow freely through rain or shine until their time has come to an end.”
