In the renovated version of Akureyri Art Museum, a new and unique facility dedicated to museum education, will become available. This will create an opportunity for a new approach in the art-education program, based on projects and workshops. This new space will also be used to exhibit work by various artists and the ones who will open the first exhibition are Hjördís Frímann (born 1954) and Magnús Helgason (born 1977).
Hjördís is known for her use of pure colors and vibrant color combinations, as well as using music boxes in her work. Magnús often works with found objects and text frequently plays an important role in his work. Joy and playfulness mixed with diverse references characterize the work of both artists. Together they create an exciting exhibition that can enrich and empower the imagination of children of all ages.
