Ýmir Grönvold (born 1994) lives and works in Reykjavík. He graduated from Iceland University of the Arts with a BA degree in Fine Art 2018 after exchange studies at KABK and the Royal Art Academy of Art in the Hague, Netherlands. Grönvold works with paintings, drawings and found materials and has researched different themes, from Tarot and spiritual search to landscapes and nature interpretation.

His works are inspired by nature; mountains, waterfalls, the ocean, wildlife and plants. These topics are often interpreted in a liberal and personal way. In earlier exhibitions hisfocus has been on transformation and connections with emphasis on growth and movement within natural cycles. The exhibition Between Mountain and Shore is based on this, researching the space between the constant and the variable, where natural processes, colors and texture meet, creating diverse, pictural descriptions of transformation and associations.
