How does one get an idea for an artwork? Artists use varied methods to communicate and interpret their ideas. In visual arts a medium means the way or method through which the artist has chosen to create his work. There are various methods to communicate and the differences between them can be unclear. Some artists use traditional mediums while others experiment with diverse materials and techniques to achieve desired effects.
The aim of this exhibition is to educate museum guests about various art-mediums by showing selected works from the collection of Akureyri Art Museum. The works are diverse, by different artists and created with various methods. The guests of the museum also get an opportunity to leave their mark on the exhibition, seek inspiration in the works and create their own art in a motivating environment.
