Eiríkur Arnar Magnússon (born 1975) graduated from Iceland University of the Arts, Fine Art programme in 2007. He has held five solo exhibitions and participated in 13 group exhibitions in Iceland, Estonia and Portugal. He has also worked as a curator.
Eiríkur has mostly created figurative paintings but also book-art and used books in his work. He has among other things, strived to elevate old workmanship and given it a new meaning in the form of sculpture-book-art.
About his book-art exhibition Bækr voru Eiríkur comments: „I wanted to give the works an ancient look and dignify the volatile craftsmanship, that has been used through the centuries, and build it a temple. The book-towers stand naked and the mystery of the workmanship is reveiled – for all to see“.
