The ideology behind Aníta Hirlekar’s (born 1986) design evolves around the merging of craft and fashion sensibility in a characteristic way. Her designs consist of artistic color combinations and hand embroidered textile with strong focus on rich textures.
Aníta graduated with a BA degree in fashion design with a special focus on print in 2012 and with an MA degree in textile design for fashion in 2014, both from Central Saint Martins in London. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Iceland and abroad such as London and Paris Fashion Week, Espoo Museum of Modern Art in Finland and Iceland’s Museum of Design and Applied Art. Aníta was nominated for the DV Cultural Prize in 2015 and the Icelandic Design Awards 2015. Aníta received a Fashion Special Prize in the design-competition International Talent Support in Italy 2014.
