MARGRÉT JÓNSDÓTTIR
KIMAREK: Installation to mark a forty-year career
05.06.2025 – 28.09.2025
Gallery 11

Margrét Jónsdóttir was born in Akureyri 1961. She studied ceramics at Kolding School of Design in Denmark. After graduation in 1985 she moved back to Iceland and opened her own ceramic workshop in her grandmother‘s garage. She has run a studio at Gránufélagsgata 48 in Akureyri for over 20 years now, where she creates and sells her art.

Through the years Jónsdóttir has worked on diverse subjects - dividing her time equally between making handicraft-art, large art-pieces and art decorations. She has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Iceland and abroad.

Jónsdóttir‘s exhibition in Akureyri Art Museum consists of different pieces that have been borrowed from far and wide, found in nooks and crannies, covering the artist‘s forty-year career. The works appear to the viewer as one large installation – one whole – one oeuvre.
