Group exhibition
Ultima Thule
Gallery 09
October 5 – December 1 2019
The painters affiliated with the artistic branch of the International Committee for Christopher Columbus, artists of both the Old and the New World, had long hoped for an exhibition to be held in Iceland.
Columbus mentions the island of Thule in his memoirs, and in his notes Seneca’s “last Thule” is quoted as the northern edge of the known world. It is with the spirit of exploration that the Italian artists participating in the exhibition at the Akureyri Art Museum bring their works to the last Thule, an opening towards the northern part of the New World and its enduring sense of fascinating mystery.
